The coalition serves as the forum for discussion, dialogue and coordination among Mindanao networksand NGOs concerning development programs and its impact to the Mindanao community.It also serves as advocacy center of NGOs in Mindanao on issues related to development of tripeoples - Lumad, Moro
and Christian settlers. It facilitates and promotes Mindanao consciousness and greater tripeople awareness among Mindanawons and Mindanao NGOs.
PRINCIPLES GOVERNING THE COALITION
All Principles are made by consensus, giving due respect and recognition of the autonomy of each network, their positions and convictions at all times. It upholds transparency, open and healthy criticisms among its members.
MINCODE STRUCTURE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY The MINCODE Assembly is the highest
policy-making body of the coalition that is
composed of seven representatives each from the
eleven member-networks. It meets once a year.
COUNCIL In between the General Assembly, the MINCODE
Council meets and decides on certain policies of the
organization. It is composed of one official and one
alternate representative from each of the member-
network. It meets every quarter.
TRIPEOPLE COMMISSION POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE COMMISSION ECONOMIC COMMISSION GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION The MINCODE Council created commissions within
the coalition to assist the organization in
implementing its advocacy programs. These are
composed of individual NGO members of the
networks implementing related programs and
activities of their specific areas of concern fall
within the corresponding issue commission.
SECRETARIAT The MINCODE Secretariat implements the
decisions of the Council and sees to the
day-to-day operation of the coalition. The
Cordinator heads the Secretariat.

MINCODE to Hold Strategic Planning
The Mindanao Coalition of Development NGO Networks [MINCODE] will hold its Strategic Planning on June 19-20, 2008 at Mergrande Ocean Resort, Bago Aplaya, Davao City. With fund support from Lutheran World Relief (LWR), the activity aims to outline the Coalition’s medium term (2008-2012) strategic targets and timeframe. It will be attended by Council members representing the twelve member networks of development NGOs in Mindanao and members of MINCODE’s Four Commissions namely Governance and Politics, Tripeople, Gender and Development and Economic.

ADVANCING TRIPEOPLE CULTURE, MINDANAO HISTORY, PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE COALITION PUSHED
In June, MINCODE was granted an initial fund by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) to conduct a three-month needs assessment on the promotion of tri-people culture, Mindanao history, peace and development among its members. The project has randomly identified 113 member organizations (from its 11 member networks) all over Mindanao as respondents to the project.
The project seeks to find out level of implementation and integration of tri-people culture, Mindanao history, peace and development in the conduct of day-to-day operations and in the implementation of the projects. The project will be conducted in three phases: survey, focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
The project has identified a research consultant in the person of Ms. Rosena Sanchez, Chairperson, University Research and Publication Committee, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City.
The result of this project will be the basis of a more long-term engagement with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
The project is currently administered by Mr. Dondon Clamor. The project is expected to conclude on September.

MINCODE’S DAVAO HISTORY BOOK PUBLISHED
MINCODE in partnership with the Research and Publication Office of Ateneo de Davao University published the book entitled “Davao: Reconstructing History from Text and Memory” last December 2005. Prof. Macario Tiu, ADDU professor and one of the research fellows and scholars of MINCODE’s Mindano History Project, authored it. The book was the second of the series of publication on Mindanao history.
The Mindanao History Project was an advocacy initiative of the Coalition. It started with MINCODE commissioned a pool of research fellows and scholars to undertake a historical study on Mindanao in mid-1999 to 2003. Several writings were produced and covered the history of major areas in Mindanao such as Davao, Bukidnon, Caraga Region, Zamboanga Peninsula and Cotabato. The first book on Mindanao history was published in 2003. It was authored by Prof. Rody Rodil and entitled “A Story of Mindanao and Sulu: In Question and Answer”
MINCODE believes that in writing Mindanao History it enables to:
- Help unify the peoples of Mindanao who have diverse ad oftentimes conflicting interests;
- Assist in the identification and appreciation of the diversity among these peoples;
- Facilitate in the discovery of their commonalities so that there could be “unity in diversity”; and
- Help push the development of a home-grown Mindanao identity.
